2009--2010 School Year! Welcome Back
This year you have a lot of great ideas that I hope we will be able to bring to full fruition! The number one plan you have on your plate (or at least the one you all seem to be most enthusiastic about) is a school dance.
Your fist tasks to get this underway will be to formulate a proposal for school administration and the school board. You will need to develop a budget and decide what funds you think the school board should help to cover and why.
I know some of you wanted to know, "If this is a 'School Dance' why does Student Council have to pay for it?" Well the simple answer is, by "School" we mean all students in the High School will be invited, rather than that the "School" is sponsoring the dance. Even at standard public schools, student organizations such as Student Council, often sponsor school dances. In our case, we are sponsoring the dance, but we have $0 funds at the moment. And frankly $$ makes the world go round, and we can't really get things moving until we have some oil for the gears (aka $$)
So, what does this mean for your school dance? Well I would suggest that you make a proposal and come up with a contingency plan (or an "Oh crap! The school board won't give us money" plan) Start thinking about other options for how to raise the money to fund your dance and how to collect this money (and for that matter where to store it since we don't have a bank account.) On that note, I will be contacting our PTO president to find out if they would like to help us out, by maybe co-sponsoring the event and helping to collect the funds for this dance :)
Don't forget your discussion boards and our next meeting, on September 25th at 1pm in WIMBA!

Update!
Spirit Week is coming up, and we need ideas! Some of the suggestions were:
-Design An OHDELA T-Shirt Day
- Casual Day For Teachers (If this becomes one of the chosen ideas, we need to decide how much a teacher would have to pay to wear casual clothes at the office for one day.)
-Crazy Outfit Day! (On this day, if it gets chosen, dress up in a crazy outfit, then send a picture of yourself in the outfit! It could be posted up for all of the student council to see.
E-Mail Me (Hannah Bender) or Mrs. Cales (Or leave a comment below) stating some of your ideas for spirit week (or vote on the current suggestions)
-We need an OHDELA Mascot! After we get a few more ideas, we’ll vote! Some of the ideas were:
-DELA Dragons
-DELA Dolphins
-DELA Divas (Sorry, boys! LOL)
-DELA Decimals
-DELA Owls
E-Mail Me (Hannah Bender) or Mrs. Cales (Or leave a comment below) to either vote for one of the selections above, or suggest a new mascot!
It’s time for the student council to vote for positions! Here’s whose running!
-Spencer Campbell (For President)
-Brandon Ehlers (For President)
-Safa Gobah (For President)
If you would like to run, here are the open positions!
-President
-Vice President
-Secretary
-Treasurer
E-Mail Me (Hannah Bender) or Mrs. Cales (Or leave a comment below) to vote for who’s running, or nominate someone (or yourself) for an open position! Talk to you all at the next meeting! :]. Hannah Bender

Rainbow Radiothon!
(Pictured above from L to R starting in the Back, Brian Fowler, Mrs. Cales, Emily Blough, Hannah Bender, Joe Cronauer, Mrs. Alloway, Felicia Motley, James "Andy" Patuc)
Today four members of Student Council along with Mrs. Cales, Student Council Advisor, and Mrs. Alloway, Student Council Mentor, met at the Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital Brian and Joe Radiothon to deliver their donation of $116.72! We held a live Student Council Meeting from the Rainbow Lobby (the Archive may be found on the group page.)
The students had a lot of fun and giggles with each other and had the unique opportunity to meet Brian and Joe, DJ's at Cleveland's Mix 106.5 radio station and hosts of the Radiothon. The students were so psyched they decided to start collecting donations for next year's radiothon in hopes that they will be able to deliver a much larger check next fall!
Below are some photos taken on the trip!
Lets all make fun of Mrs. C for getting as much food on her shirt as she does in her mouth...we should have gone to Red Lobster, at least there I would have gotten a bib ;)
